Israel Kills 16 Palestinians Over Weekend; Cuts All Ties with Palestinian Authority

The International Committee of the Red Cross issued a statement of extreme concern over the deteriorating situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, particularly in the Gaza Strip, the most crowded place on earth.
Newly-elected Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert announced that Israel will go ahead and take over 20% of the Palestinian West Bank and surround the rest with a Wall, and will reject Hamas' offer for a truce.

It's true that this bombing is another revenge, but it doesn't mean we've got to blame only the Palestinian people for the conflict.
I think the disengagement was just a joke. What was going on in the meantime around Jerusalem?

The arabs need to start doing something to earn respect. So far all they have done are actions that are deserving of contempt. From destroying the Greenhouses that could have produced a steady source of revenue (not handouts) to repeatedly launching missiles at Israel. To continuing to send arab children with guns, knives and bombs against the boarder and into Israel with the goals of killing Jews.
The arabs and their many supporters claim that they feel humiliated that they must go threw checkpoints. However, its the checkpoints that constantly stop those arabs with the goal of entering Israel and murder Jewish children. If the arabs want the check points to be removed then they need to actually commit themselves to policing their population and ensure that they stop goading their fellow arabs into killing Jews.
No longer are Jews meekly allowing their brothers, sisters, mothers, and fathers to be killed. The arabs and their many ignorant and bigoted supporters need to finally learn this.

As long as Israel build shameful walls, colonise and humiliate the Arabs at check points, new racists Arabs will born from this horrible situation. And then new racists Jews will born. And this conflict will last forever.
Kelly, I’m not saying Israel is responsible of all the trouble, I think the extremists of both parts are the responsible, which is not actually the majority of the people.
I think there are two way of thinking, a conservative (which is generally quite racist) and a more progressive and pacifist. As long as the people in power think in the conservative way, the violence will continue…
Hamas, which is to my mind the conservative way of thinking in the Palestinian people doesn’t come from nowhere. It comes from years of humiliation and colonisation. The rising of Hamas is the proof of inefficacity of the Sharon’s policies.
And as long as you don’t understand that the majority of the Arabs are non-violent. It mean you’ve got racist ideas in you. Only a minority of Palestinian is violent. But this minority is growing at every act of violence from the Israeli.
So both parts has to do a lot to find the solution including getting rid of every racist ideas. But Israel has got the money, the power. Israel can do much than stopping the violence, it can create a system more equitable and stop this infernal spiral that is going little by little to an Apartheid.

This entire mess between Israel and Palistine has been going ever sence the UN made Israel a state in 1948. They've been at it ever sence! The Palistinians reject Israeli peace offers and the Israelis reject the Palistinian peace offers. Each time Israel intrudes on Palistine, the Palistinians respond with rocket attacks and in revenge for the rocket attacks Israel responds with air stikes and in revenge for the air stikes the Palistinians bomb a cafe and for the bombing of the cafe, Israel assasinates a leader in Palistine and the revenge cycle goes on! I dont think either side wants peace. I say, that the world needs to just let both of them duke it out and settle this once and for all.

I hate to say it, but it's very easy for people who are sitting around in other countries free from the actual day to dy struggles of both Palestinians and Israelis to discuss in big forums how the Palestinians (and Israelis) could take steps to help themselves, relying on pure logic. What they don't realize is that situations like this one don't HAVE ANY LOGIC TO THEM! Noone can understand the mindless suffering which takes most of the average Palestinian's attention just to survive. They have no time to discuss with those who don't want to hear them.
People who speak about how Palestinians send their children to fight also forget that conscription into the Israeli army is mandatory upon completion of High School. Most of the time Israeli children don't get a second political opinion, so they get a convoluted, almost whitewashed idea of what it is exactly they are fighting for! Is that not as senseless, and in a way equatable to sending children to fight, sending teenagers who don't even really know WHY they personally are fighting?
I don't agree with the religious aspect of the militance, but Palestinians are fighting for their very SURVIVAL in a land which has repeatedly shown no interest whatsoever in peaceful coexistance. Does it really surprise so many people that Palestinians destroyed GREENHOUSES when the Israeli courts won't even give them fair trials, gives them land and then proceeds to take it back without warrant???

I think you should take some of your own advice. Israeli soldiers know exactly what they are fighting for. 3 times arab armies have attempted to invade them with the purpose of destroying them. Daily rocket attacks and suicide bombings. Look at the effect one suicide bombing had in London. Now imagine that threat constantly in a population a fraction the size.

This is a complex issue and the main problem here is that noone can even say anything in support of the plight of the Palestinians without being called an anti semite. Jews did suffer horribly at the hands of the Nazis, yes, (as did the gypsies and the homosexuals of the time) and we need to be respectful and understand that, however, the world does not have to live in a constant state of politically correct guilt because of this. What Israel is doing to the Palestinians is unforgivable based entirely on an antiquated book that speaks of no truth and has no proof to back it up. It is about human rights, understanding that people need to access hospitals and education, not have their babies at check points, not die because ambulance workers are too scared to pick people up for fear of being shot. Rubber bullets do no harm? Don't be ridiculous. To live in that state of upset, to have your home being taken away from you by Jewish settlers, to lose your children and your loved ones is unforgivable. Only people facing incredible hardships in their lives with no ability to change it could die in this manner. I am not condoning suicide bombing, it is a harsh and disgusting thing to do. But everyone who dies in this is someone's daughter or son or loved one and we need to remember this for both sides. Israel has been supported by American money for too long. Why isn't anyone asking why they are allowed to have weapons of mass destruction? Why isn't anyone asking why the US government cowers to the Jewish vote? The answer is simple, we are all too scared of being cast as anti semites and it is about time that we actually stood up and said, what happened to you was terrible, but you don't have the right to commit genocide on the Palestinians. You cannot fight one wrong with another.

It shows how Israel, the solitary Jewish state features within the Arab-Muslim world.
It is interesting to see how many options were available to the Arabs after 1948, however it was easier to rename themselves "Palestinians" (a term unheard of pre-1967) and try to push the Jews into the sea.

Also try to imagine the sheer terror that constant helicopter raids bring to Palestinian families in Gaza. Imagine your whole neighborhood blown up...for what???
Israel, as a people (not as a religious group, as most people see it) doesn't need to call for revenge, and in doing so, become able to perpetrate the same acts against Palestitnians without any real coverage!
