For the 9th day in a row, Israeli forces have been bombarding Lebanon. So far, more than 300 Lebanese civilians have been killed, over 1,000 wounded and some 500,000 displaced, compared with 29 Israeli deaths (15 civilians) caused by Hizbullah's Katyusha rockets. Reports from Beirut talk of a deserted, devastated city, with residential buildings, roads and bridges being hit by Israeli air strikes. Israel launched attacks on Lebanon after Hezbullah captured two Israeli soldiers in a cross-border raid so as to swap them for the remaining three Lebanese and an undetermined number of Arab prisoners held by Israel. However, the captive soldiers, both in Gaza and Lebanon, have already been deleted from the public agenda. Israeli officials are now talking not about "bringing the soldiers home" but about destroying Hizballah and Hamas, and perhaps Syria and Iran as well, "once and for all." And, apparently, they have got the green light from the US and other international "allies".

Meanwhile in Palestine, Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip continue, again allegedly to free a soldier seized by Palestinian militias on 25 June, whom they have offered to release in exchange for some of the Palestinians imprisoned by Israel. Tens of Palestinian civilians have been killed and many more injured, not to mention the periodic shortages of food, fuel, electricity, water and medicine. Many of those killed were Palestinian civilians, including children, who died during Israeli air force "targeted killings". As well as actual bombing raids, Israeli military airplanes have conducted nightly sonic booming raids over Gaza, with the aim of making the civilian population fearful that actual bombing is under way. In retaliation, Palestinian groups also continue to fire Qassam rockets at Israeli towns [see Human Rights Watch's statement].
Apart from the mass destruction of civilian infrastructure, there are reports that Israeli forces have been using internationally banned weapons, such as phosphorus incendiary bombs and vacuum bombs, both in Gaza and in Lebanon.
Although still small in scale, there have been several protests - in Israel and elsewhere throughout the world [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8] [9] [10] - against the continuing Israeli attacks on Lebanon and Gaza. Opinion polls suggest that majorities of US and Israeli citizens oppose the attacks. On 18 June, several hundred people demonstrated in Parliament Square in London. UK-wide demonstrations have been called for July 22nd by the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, Stop the War Coalition and various Muslim organisations. Earlier this month, protesters blockaded EDO MBM in Brighton, which makes electrical weapons components for the Israeli military. [see also "Boycott Israeli Goods" National Day of Action].

Thank god we're here to patronize the Arabs, who are too incapable of looking out for their own best interest. They need to hold onto those soldiers, since that will give them a sense of accomplishment, and in a strange way equalize their position vis a vis Israel. We need to build up their false sense of pride, because its cute and fits well with those silly kafiyyas they like to wear, like an Indian in Buffalo Bills circus.
Arabs - though ethnically Caucasian - are obviously too stupid to be considered 'responsible' for their own well being. They need to be patronized by smart people, who know they need enocuragement due to low self esteem - as a result of Israel, of course. We should have low expectations of them, becuase that way we can all feel superior, and understand them better. "Justice!"

Iraqizing Lebanon
As more Lebanese leave the country after the Israeli aggression on Lebanon intensified, we're starting to hear more and more stories from the "inside".
One person who is out of the country now told me that following the shelling that northern Lebanon (mainly Akkar and Tripoli) sustained, groups of religious Sunnis got out their guns from their basements and were getting ready to head south to fight the Israeli Army. The Lebanese Army's Intelligence Force stopped these groups at the last minute.
I did warn in one of my previous posts that "Israel has opened a can of worms (when it bombed the north and killed some 9 soldiers); many parts of Akkar are very conservative Sunni. Why is the IDF messing with a sleeping beast????!!!! Why?"

Any support NOT directed towards Israel is anti-semitic. You fail to acknowledge that primary underlying philophy which behind this war plain and simple: Kill the Jews. That is exactly why Saudi Arabia and Egypt have told Syria to cut it out and why someone needs to say the same thing to their Persian neighbors. The fact is, groups that have as a core believe of "The Jews must be killed," have provoked this controversy from the start. Well I don't know what they believe. Maybe you should provide quotes and *reliable* sources of information for your claims? I doubt they want to kill all the Jews. I think what you mean is they want the whole of Palestine back and think Jews should go back to their countries of origin. While I do not agree with this, I do think that the Palestinians have the right to return to their homes and live together with the Jews in the same state and have the same rights as the Jewish citizens.

But as I said, there is no difference between an Islamist and christian or jewish zionist, other than the amount of casualties, victims and destruction perpetrated and the fact that Palestine has been occupied and Israel hasn't. The fact is that Hizballah has not killed "the Jews" but abducted and killed Israeli soldiers, whereas Israel bombed civilian population and infrastructure of Lebanon and killed many Lebanese. As for the abduction of the soldiers by Hizballah, it is true that it is an act of war. But is it a warcrime? So far, it seems not. But the Israeli "reaction" consists of warcrimes.
The abduction of the soldier by Hamas is a legitimate act of resistance to the occupation, the soldier is POW. But the Israeli actions in Gaza before and after this "abduction" are warcrimes and crimes against humanity. (not because they were done by "the Jews", but because INTERNATIONAL LAW SAYS SO). The same with rockets - the Palestinians are under occupation and have the right to self-defense and resistance to the occupier.
The fact is that Israel has been occupying Palestine. And the fact is that Israel intends to annex the settlements in the West Bank and expand Israel's territory. The fact is that there is a racist and discriminatory regime in Israel that discriminates against Arab citizens of Israel and against Palestinians in the Occupied Territory.
The fact is that Israel killed more Arabs than the Arabs killed Israelis. The fact is that Israelis kill and maim children in Occupied Territories every day. The fact is that Israel is responsible for 5 million Palestinian refugees and that it refuses to allow them to return to their homes solely on the basis of their ethnic origin. (seems to me it's more like "kill all the Palestinians" and it's not coming from Syria or Iran, but from Israel and US).

Now, how many Israeli prisoners are there in Syrian jails? How many Israeli civilians have been under siege without water and electricity for a month? What territory do the Syrians or the Iranians or the Palestinians occupy? How many civilians died in their bombing? How many Israeli children did Syria, Iran, Palestine and Lebanon together kill? WHEN DID IRAN AND SYRIA OR LEBANON LAST START AN INVASION OR OFFENSIVE ON ISRAEL IN ORDER TO "KILL THE JEWS"?
Are you saying Israel is pre-emptively bombing Lebanese civilians and children because it's afraid someone will "kill all the Jews"? Maybe Israel should go see a shrink. Sort out the paranoia. Israel's population comprises of 18% of ethnic arabs and is the most developed Social Democracy in the Middle East. Missles from Gaza have been hitting Israel, Israel has ben hitting Lebanon with missles. Zionists do have some power in Israel, but the majority are some of the most liberal (in the true sense of individual liberty) and social (in the sense of government playing a role with health care, government programs etc.).
These onesided people are the problem, not the solution. However, Israel cannot claim all the land is theirs (Golan Heights?). The Jews ain't leaving, and the Muslims aren't leaving either. This is why Liberals get slandered and Conservatives get slandered. Senator Biden said it well, paraphrased: There's always 20% of the Democratic party that will completely disagree with the 20% of the Republican party. Mind you, these are the people that sympathize with the far left and right...they usually only pay lip service, they let the nuts do the dirty work. I say the Jews (or anyone) have no right to come to somebody else's land and act like colonizers. I say the Jews (or anyone) have no right to establish racism and apartheid and conduct ethnic cleansing of the said land. I say there is no acquisition of territory through aggression for the Jews (or anyone else).
Why would a state, a secular democracy with equal rights for all its citizens (including the Palestinian refugees) be source of oppression for the Jews? Is being treated equally oppression and discrimination of "the Jews"?
Can't you see that this propaganda is not working anymore? Israeli government and their supporters are the real nazis of today. Nazism and other such hideous "ideologies" are not exclusively ennemies of "the Jews". Many other nationalities and individuals perished for what they were or believed in in WWII.
Nazism is not bad because it was Germans against the Jews. It's bad because one group murdered, mutilated, tortured, displaced, imprisoned, ethnically cleansed and commited genocide against another group, solely on the basis of their ethnic origin. speak, so that it can never be re-Arabized, if you want, again.
Today the JNF plays a different role. In a way it continues to play this role in the West Bank, where
it is an active government agency that tries to dispossess Palestinians, and take their land and
transfer it to Jews. Inside Israel it is a very vast landowner; every land that is owned by the JNF is a
land that only Jews can have. For example, in the Galilee, where the JNF owns land, there are many
settlements, and the JNF can force the settlement, and forces the settlement not to accept any Arabs
into their settlement under that law. It is a very important tool of colonization, in the past and in the
present.
Q: So it enforces the apartheid regime?

The real problem is that Israelis are denying the truth. The real problem is that there is AN OVERWHELMING majority of Israelis who are ZIONISTS, be they "liberal or left".

But to achieve this the Jews had to expell the indeginous population and prevent them from returning in order for the Jewish state to have the Jewish majority. To characterize the Israeli's as harming Arabs is legitimate...to apologize for the Arab side is ignoring reality. There is no "Era of lies," Everyone understands that the conflict has become so convoluted that there are not "sides" anymore, only factions that thrive off of this conflict. Hezbollah has made it clear they don't want to live next to a Jewish state while Israel is able to pull their own people out of Gaza. The ceasefire is not for the Lebanese and their children and they can be killed at will until there is 100% security for the Israelis (including Israeli soldiers).
Also >> WHAT A COINCIDENCE the Israelis struck the UN right when the UN and the "international community " was supposed (yeah sure) to send a PEACE force. Sure I believe it was an accident. Sure, maybe it was even a miracle -- maybe it was God and he struck them, because he wants a Greater Israel. [sarcarsm intended, of course]

I can't stand these one-sided people like that cartoon artist! They undermine the complexity of the situation completely ignoring any Arab faults. I understand the argument that Israel is overreacting and undermining their own efforts, and I don't hold them without fault...but I know the arab world is not harmless. Without this in the debate, all this "journalism" is garbage propaganda.

Recomiendo a los lectores que lean artículos en contra de Israel, y si creen en las Sagradas Escrituras, sería bueno que se empapen del origen de la historia entre Dios é los Judíos, porque israel será país, guste o no guste, porque Dios le prometió a abraham desde el Nilo al rio Eufrates Genesis: 15:18 asi aque ahorrémonos nuestras rabias, porque yo espero que Israel sea una Nación y oro por ella, porque es una señal más de las proximidades de la segunda vendida de Jesús, y tengan la absoluta seguridad que los musulmanes nunca de los nuncas conquistarán Jerusalen como capital.
