Emergency Alert: Take Action to End Israeli Attacks on GazaDecember 27th, 2008 | As of this writing, Israeli Air Force attacks today on the occupied Gaza Strip killed an estimated 200 or more people and injured hundreds more. These Israeli attacks come on top of a brutal siege of the Gaza Strip, which has created a humanitarian catastrophe of dire proportions for Gaza's 1.5 million Palestinian residents by restricting the provision of food, fuel, medicine, electricity, and other necessities of life. While the scope of civilian casualties in today's attacks is not yet clear, it is unmistakable that Israel carried out these attacks with F16 fighter jets and missiles provided by the taxpayers of this country. From 2001-2006, the United States transferred to Israel more than $200 million worth of spare parts to fly its fleet of F16's. In July 2008, the United States gave Israel 186 million gallons of JP-8 aviation jet fuel. Last year, the United States signed a $1.3 billion contract with Raytheon to transfer to Israel thousands of TOW, Hellfire, and "bunker buster" missiles. In short, Israel's lethal attack today on the Gaza Strip could not have happened without the active military and political support of the United States. Therefore, we need to take action to protest this attack and demand an immediate cease-fire. |

12/30: Los Angeles, CALA Jews for Peace in a Demonstration to Protest the Israeli Siege of GazaNext Tuesday, Dec. 30, 3-5:30 PMWestwood Federal Building (Wilshire & Veteran; 3-hour visitor parking in the Federal Building lot).
As you know, the situation is Gaza has been intolerable, but with full support of the U.S. government has gotten worse. This morning Israel launched a massive air attack on Gaza that killed close to 200 people. This attack was carried out using American supplied F-16s, Apache helicoptors, and guided missiles. Now besides a blockade causing shortage of food, medicine, fuel, electric power, and commercial goods, there has been a massacre. The UN Secretary General, the Swiss government, and other groups have called the situation a humanitarian crisis and a violation of the 4th Geneva Convention. It is surely a violation of Jewish and international law.The massacre and blockade are not only cruel and inhumane, but also counter-productive in that they fuel violence against Israel and works to undermine efforts to achieve peace through negotiations.
LA Jews for Peace urges everyone to speak out against the attack and blockade, including our own government's support of it. We call for an immediate cease fire and a resumption of shipments of food and medical supplies to the people of Gaza, a hold of U.S. aid to Israel until the blockade is ended, and admittance of journalists to Gaza to report on the desperate conditions. Join LA Jews for Peace in a protest Tuesday, Dec. 30, 3-5:30 PM, Westwood Federal BuildingLA Jews will have signs and banners; bring your own; but no flags please since our message is internationalism and humanism, not nationalism

International Action CenterEmergency Protest to Stop the Massacre in Gaza Sunday, December 28 2 pm 50th St. & 5th Ave. NYC
We must act now, before the massacres continue! Over 200 people were killed in Gaza on Saturday, December 27 in a series of Israeli attacks - with US-made and paid for weaponry - upon the Palestinian people. These cold-blooded killings come on top of a siege on Gaza that has killed hundreds by depriving them of medical care, deprived Gazans of electricity, power and fuel and attempted to strangle the life of the Palestinian people in Gaza.
The people of Gaza are standing steadfast in the face of these massacres but our voices must be heard to demand an immediate end to the massacres and an end to US aid to Israel! The Israeli military is promising more massacres - we must say no NOW!
