MEDIA RELEASE Sunday November 5, 2007
FROM: Australia-Venezuela Solidarity Network and Melbourne Bolivarian Circle

Attention Bono: "If you want to help the poor, don't invest in companies
that promote killing them"

Australians have joined the international campaign calling for U2's Bono,
who has appealed to the world for peace and poverty reduction, to apply
those same values to block the manufacture and distribution of a videogame
that promotes the invasion and destruction of Venezuela.

Bono is a Managing Director and Co-Founder of the private equity firm
Elevation Partners, currently investing in Pandemic/Bioware Studios, who
have created a video game about killing poor people in Venezuela, South
America. Mercenaries 2: World in Flames, the game created by
Pandemic/Bioware, simulates a mercenary invasion of Venezuela in the year
2007. The game promotes the invasion and destruction of Venezuela in order
to check "a power hungry tyrant" who has "seized control of Venezuela and
her oil supply." Mercenaries 2 promises to leave no part of Venezuela
untouched.

According to Pandemic/Bioware Studios, Bono "has visibility into all
projects at Pandemic and Bioware." Pandemic is a subcontractor for the US
Army and the CIA funded Institute for Creative Technologies, which uses
Hollywood techniques to mount war simulations in California's high desert
in order to conduct military training.

"Here is a simple thing you can do Bono to help poor people. Stop
investing in Pandemic/Bioware."

"How can Bono feel at home talking to President Bush and then support a
game that promotes killing the only president in the world actually doing
something serious about combating poverty, President Hugo Chavez of
Venezuela?"

"Bono, history, like God, is watching what you do."

[Paraphased from Bono's Sermon to the 2006 National Prayer Breakfast.]

The campaign will organise actions outside of U2 concerts in Australia,
asking Bono to take sides with the poor in Venezuela and condemn US
intervention in the upcoming presidential elections in Venezuela. Be
there!

Nov. 7: Brisbane (QSAC Stadium). Nov. 10, 11 & 13: Sydney (Telstra
Stadium). Nov. 16: Adelaide (AAMI Stadium). Nov. 18: Melbourne (Telstra
Dome)
