Does the old expression “Jack of all trades, master of none” hold any truth? Not for San Fernando Valley based visual artist Toni Scott. As a painter, sculptor and photographer, Toni is “A Jill of the arts trade and master of all.” Does the old expression “Jack of all trades, master of none” hold any truth? Not for San Fernando Valley based visual artist Toni Scott. As a painter, sculptor and photographer, Toni is “A Jill of the arts trade and master of all.” Toni Scott is the featured artist in NoHo Gallery LA’s November exhibit “Art Bazaar” - a collection of art representing a variety of mediums and styles from November 2 – December 10. Artist reception party on Saturday, November 19 from 4-8PM, featuring fine art, music, food and wine. Toni Scott is as vibrant and passionate as her artwork. A California native, Toni is a versatile artist in various media, including sculpture, painting, photography and digital design. Expressive, creative and prolific with a brush, camera, computer and power tools, Toni has sought to express her love of god, beauty, humanity, European artistic traditions and African-American cultural legacy in every work she creates. Toni’s credits are also as diverse as her art. Her paintings and sculptures have been acquired by numerous private collections, appeared in international exhibition and been featured in several major motion picture features. Her photography has also been published in major newspapers and national magazines. “As you step into Toni’s studio you are given a tour of the senses – there is a surprise around every corner. Her body of work is extensive and captures everyone’s attention and tastes. Whether she’s using a heavy duty power saw or small carving knife, she has the ability to transfer her skills from the grandiose to the delicate. I selected several key pieces from Toni’s body of work which reflect our show theme perfectly – there are pieces which will speak to everyone,” says NoHo Gallery LA curator, Daniel C. DeBevoise. “The ‘Art Bazaar’ exhibit has a dual purpose: to show how one artist, Toni Scott, can master various art mediums; and to show the beauty of various media and styles from our select group of artists.” Toni has pushed her artistic vision to master levels, completing giant-sized wood carvings, a collection of realistic busts and large-scaled figure sculpture. She recently traveled to Italy to perfect her skills in marble and alabaster carving. Complimenting her sculpture are expressive paintings inspired by journeys to the Louvre and Prado museum and her extensive art studies, culminating in classical oil renderings representing the beauty and dignity of the African-American people. Her photographic credits include a Grand Prize from American Photo Magazine; Celebrity stills featuring Renee Zellweger, LL Cool J, Tyson Beckford, Peter Fonda and Tisha Campbell, among others. Digital imagery completes her artistic vision and represents an enormous body of subjects fusing fantasy and realism.
