fairydustThe extreme ring wing/fascist group National Front was confronted this weekend by counter marches, fairies and anarchist blocks. The National front rally at parliament, to support of keeping the current national flag as a symbol of New Zealand's colonial heritage, was met by fairies throwing glitter over the skinheads and an anarchist block, who chanted 'boring' and 'nazi scum' throughout the nationalist speeches.
Despite the National Front attempts to leave the area (even with police escorts) before the arrival of the 2,000 strong multicultural march , they found themselves blocked at every entrance. From this point on bockades sprung up spontaneously to frustrate the National Front's every attempt to escape.The National Front were eventually trapped within the station between two lines of anti-fascists. Things got even more heated when one fascist threw a punch at a protestor and got quite a few punches to the face by anti-fascists in retaliation. The National Front leader's car was also jumped on and pieces broken off as he was driving away. At one point the police tried to arrest a girl who punched one of the cops, but was unarrested. Another protestor was arrested following the scuffle. About 40 people occupied the police station to demand his release, resulting in the arrest of one more person. Both prisoners were charged (the other with disorderly behaviour) then released within a couple of hours.

If what the National Front is saying is so ridiculous, why not just let them say it and show themselves to be fools? Why try to drown them out by shouting over them. I guess you hippy anarchist communists aren't so much in favor as free speech as you'd like to believe, or rather, you're only in favor when you are doing the speaking.

The National Front may be a very facist group of individuals, but why bother them. Just let them talk their rubbish to show how stupid they are. If you're an advocate of free speech just let them talk. Also, violence is not the answer. I totally agree with what the anarchist and leftist group is doing in confrontation against the facists. I am an anarchist myself. The only thing I would like to see is that it's approached in a more peaceful way.

a peaceful anarchist? i've heard it all now. ask a tibetan about the peace movement, ask a native american about being peaceful. if you're an anarchist then you'd realize that you'd quit telling people what to fucking do!!!! one group came to speak, another shut them down. people just doing what they're doing. if more people were down with facist shit then the 'faries' would've lost. sounds pretty simple to me. fuck peace bullshit lipservice. fuck telling people what to do...

I won’t pretend to speak for others, so I guess that there is some measure of anarchist in me also, but anyways, to the point –
Hate is taught. Whatever else is in play, hate is a conscious thing, so it needs to be challenged openly.
Here in the US I haven’t been very aware of the “National Front” group, but if they are known for hate and for teaching hate challenging them in the public view is the best way to challenge the destructive self and ego serving of that hate.
In my opinion, of course, but with three smatterings of experience thrown in,
