El preso vasco Iñaki De Juana Chaos entre la vida y la muerte en cárceles

El militante de ETA se encuentra entre la vida y la muerte a causa de la huelga de hambre que emprendió para denunciar su situación. Condenado por el asesinato de 21 personas, la mayoría militares y policías en los años 80 en un momento álgido del enfrentamiento entre ETA y el Estado español. Cumplió su condena hace 2 años a finales del 2004 tras cumplir los 18 años de condena después de las redenciones aplicadas a su pena. Antes de dejarle salir el ex-ministro de Justicia, Juan Fernando López Aguilar decidió "construir una nueva imputación penal por pertenencia a banda armada, amenazas o por continuidad de alguna forma de la actividad terrorista", esas fueron sus palabras. Así, le imputaron y condenaron a 12 años por publicar estos dos artículos de opinión en el periódico Gara [1][2].
Iñaki De Juana comenzó su segunda huelga de hambre el 7 de Noviembre, (antes realizó otra que duró 63 días, octubre-agosto 2006) por lo que lleva 92 días en esta segunda huelga y desde hace casi 2 meses lo mantienen atado a la cama y alimentando forzosamente mediante tubos en un hospital de Madrid. Los médicos advierten de que corre peligro de quedar en estado vegetativo o morir en cualquier momento de muerte súbita.
Las vulneraciones de los derechos de los más de 700 presos y presas políticas vascas en el estado español y frances, y el nulo movimiento que hizo del Gobieno español en este sentido durante los meses del alto al fuego permanente anunciado por ETA el marzo del 2006, fue una de las que razones que argumentó ETA en su último comunicado para interrumpirlo con el atentado en el aeropuerto madrileño de Barajas el 30 de diciembre donde murieron 2 personas.

Sólo una puntualización: los miembros de ETA son asesinos terroristas, la escoria entre la escoria, no son presos políticos. Y De Juana Chaos está en huelga de hambre porque le ha dado la gana, nadie le ha obligado, está así porque es un fanático.
Lo de que ETA mantiene un alto el fuego supongo que será una ironía. A ETA le gusta matar, es para lo único que existe. Cualquier excusa es buena para ellos para poner bombas.

Me parece mentira, es que estamos ciegos? Este tío ha matado a 25 personas, es verdad que a un fascista pero también a niños que, enemigos de Euskal Herria habían osado nacer de un guardia civil. Este tipo es un egocéntrico y está consiguiendo los titulares que quería. La sentencia de 12 años por un par de artículos me parece una burrada pero que esté tío no pase ni un año en la cárcel por cada muerto es tremendo. Alucino con las campañas de gente que yo creía más sensata para proteger a este asesino, llamemos a las cosas por su nombre.
Sus compañeros de ETA le criticaron por su afán de protagonismo en un momento en que la paz parecía posible. Ahora va de aspirante a mártir.

Ήθελα να αναφέρω οτι το συγκεκριμένο άρθρο ΔΕΝ είναι ακριβής μετάφραση του άρθρου της ισπανικής εφημερίδας ,για λόγους διαφορετικών λέξεων μεταξύ των λαών μας ,αλλά ξεκαθαρίζω οτι παρόλα αυτα είναι πιστή στο άρθρο και σε όλα όσα σε αυτό αναφέρονται.Απλά η ακριβής μετάφραση ,με βάση το babelfish που χρησιμοποίησα ,δεν υπήρχε περίπτωση να γίνει κατανοητή από εμάς.

La redacción de esta noticia es maliciosa y partidista. Incluso la foto lo es. Iñaki de Juana sencillamente asesinó a 21 personas. Da igual si eran policías, militares o señoras de la limpieza. El delito tiene la misma condena y es igual de detestable. Su condena, que supestamente ha culmpido ya, fue de 3.000 años de cárcel. Ha cumplido 18. La huelga de hambre la hace porque le da la gana a él. Si no quiere verse como en la foto, que se coma un chuletón cada día. Es sencillo. Si esa es su manera de protestar, que asuma las consecuencias, pero que no nos haga responsables a los demás, ni al Estado ni a los movimientos sociales. Es una cuestión personal. Sobre la explotación ideológica de su foto, os aseguro que las fotos de las 21 personas que asesinó tendidas sobre el suelo sería todavía más impactante.

A symbolic hunger-strike will took this place on Saturday, February 17th, in a demonstration of support for a Basque political prisoner who has been fasting for more than 100 days. The protest has been called by a number of Irish Basque committees.
A number of éirígí activists took part in the twenty-four hour fast. éirígí spokesperson Daithi Mac An Mhaistír said people in Ireland were only too aware of the terrible consequences of hunger-strikes.
“The case of Iñaki de Juana is one of sheer vindictiveness on the part of the Spanish government. By Spanish law Iñaki has already served his sentence should be released immediately.
“We in Ireland unfortunately know what hunger-strike entails. The example of Bobby Sands and his nine comrades show the tenacity and courage of the political prisoner. But we don’t need more dead hunger-strikers; what we need justice.”
Daithi continued “We hope our symbolic act on Saturday will contribute in some way towards putting pressure on the Spanish government to do the right thing – release Iñaki without further delay.”
The 24-hour protest in solidarity with Iñaki De Juana Chaos started at 2pm on Saturday 17th February, outside of the Bank of Ireland on College Green in Dublin city centre before moving to the Spanish embassy on Merrion Road for 8pm. The protest continued outside of the embassy until 2pm on Sunday.

De Juana is not a political prisoner. He kills 21 men and women. And this is not politic. you must speak to make politic. He wasn't electec by the people. He killed that persons by himself. Not in my name. Please, don't lie with your words.
De Juana no es un prisionero político, simplemente porque no es un político. Es un terrorista, No ha sido elegido por nadie, ni refrendado por el voto del pueblo. Estamos acostumbrados a ver cómo otros (necesitados de ETA) violan constantemente palabras como libertad o democracia. Ahora vienen otros (que no son tan diferentes a los primeros) a faltar a la memoria de todos aquellos que pagaron con la cárcel por sus ideas políticas. No mancilleis los términos, el lenguaje es inocente.
We are used to hear some people who usually rape words like democracy or freedom. Nowadays, some other people (not so different to the first) start to insult the memory of those who had to stay in prison for their political ideas. Please, don´t stain the terms; language is innocent.

people always point out that this bloke was responsible for multiple well executed murders, and that this justifies the latest sentence applied to him. Well the sentence was one over alleged threats, not past murders. As such it is unjust because it overreacts due to his history, after all had i written the same thing nothing would have come of it. I would however urge people to remember that De Juana is a former policemen turned political assassin, both roles typify individuals who see themselves as unfallable and who tend to be ignorant imposing bastards. I wish they would release him as there is no judicial reason to hold him, but please remember that people like him kill people for all sorts of reasons.

Pitty those who do not understand the gravity of the situation of De Juana, and those who do not understand the injustice and brutality of the Spanish regieme. De Juana served his term, wether I am with or against him, he served his term and keeping him in jail is nothing but extreme brutality and insane vengence. The guy wrote an article expressing his beliefs, armed struggle was and will always be a startegy used by many freedom-fighters.

Me decepciona ver como un medio independiente en el que confiaba, presenta a un asesino como un mártir y preso político.
Antes de "romantizar", hay que saber de qué se habla. Este tío no ha cumplido ni 17 años de prisión por todas las muertes que ha cometido. Y es entonces cuando ha empezado a estar perseguido. Algo lógico, no?
I´m upset to see an independent media I trusted presenting this killer as a political prisoner. Please check what you are talking about before making up "romantic" stories. Killing people is not so nice, is it? This man hasn´t even been 17 years in prison for the many murders he commited. And it´s from then on when he has been followed, isn't that logical?
I also support comunities' autonomy, but please be careful before forgiving so easily violence and murder for no reason.
This stuff is not always what it may seem from abroad. Please DON'T SUPPORT MURDER!

I want to send all my solidarity to this brave revolutionary who is giving us a lesson of dignity and selfishness in these days of individualism and materialism. It's great to see that there is people still standing by the utopy. And don't forget that this political prisoner (kept in prison for two opinion articles!!! after he did his time to the full as the Spanish law states)is getting solidarity messages from other revolutionaries around the world such as the FARC in Colombia, the Zapatistas in Mexico, republicans in Ireland, left-wing movements in Madrid, Catalonian pro-independence supporters...even Barcelona football players such as Oleguer!! or even less suspicious people like the Basque parliament or Spanish judges are against his imprisonement!!!!!!
I'm disgusted to read some comments above which sound so extreme right and show complete ignorance (ignorance brings fascism) on Inaki de Juana's case. They have the same stinking smell as the Spanish right-wing party called Popular Party and they are not welcome in an independent progressive media as Indymedia.

Personally I hate Popular Party and all those sometimes hidden fascist, and I would like to see a real revolution. That doesn't mean that I'm going to adore no matter who coming and killing people.

As a long term activist in the indymedia process I feel a deep sorrow when I see Indymedia global moderators unable to discriminate real social fighters from nationalism-shielded mafiosi. For us spaniards freedom is a heavy cost word, whether catalans, basque or the like... we have known the worst oppressions for centuries, and that oppression came from kings, tyrans and religion-inspired downpressors. There's no (or little) differences between these downpressors and the ones who alledgely you promote in this article. A century ago they held the would-be king banner (carlism); in the mid-seventies when democracy returned to Spain the hardline militia men punched and eliminate the left wing ETA fighters, and become a perfect alibi for the return of Franco values inspired right wing party (PP). Remember the movie 'The boxer'? I wont discuss whether nationalism has a natural place in human race emancipation, but it can be clearly seen ETA was promoted inside the walls of hardcore catholic churchs, inspired by the holy mafia, its goals are national-socialist ones (does it rings a bell?) and the results of its 'struggle' is a powerful recovery vote expectations for the far-right oppressors we know very well for the next year national election.
When a crime is committed, we must ask first: who's the benefit for? Needless to say their crimes are also a very good business for the mafiosi that hold the strings, take the money and move in the shadows. And a very bad one for those who would like to repair the damage Franco's dictatorship has done for decades.
Would you support a taliban militia arguing they fight against the capitalist empire?
Would you support a chetnik militia as far as they are facing NATO soldiers?
Would you support Sicilian mafia just because they are fighting against the italian state?

I always had sympathy for anarchist ideas, the fight against state or corporative oppression, but this...
Don't get mistaken, ETA and its murderers aren't carrying on a legitimate and respectable fight.
