Two Youth Murdered As Israel Tries To Suppress Ni'ilin Uprising

For almost 4 months residents of Ni'ilin Village in the occupied West Bank, along with their Israeli and international supporters, have been trying to defend their lands through grassroots popular resistance, which includes almost daily demonstrations, attempts to block bulldozers and clashes. After losing much of its land in 1948 and due to the massive construction of settlements on its lands since 1967, Ni'ilin is now left with merely 7,000 dunams (1,700 acres). 2,500 dunams (about 620 acres) of these lands are expected to be left isolated and effectively confiscated behind Israel's illegal segregation wall according to the current trajectory.

The Israeli army has employed severe and brutal violence in its attempt to suppress the Ni'ilin uprising, that has so far caused hundreds of injuries and has included arrests, the imposing of siege and curfew as collective punishment, the the shooting of a cuffed and blindfolded detainee, and most recently the cold blooded murders of ten year old Ahmed Mousa and 17 year old Ahmed Amireh who was mortaly injured on the eve of Mousa's funeral, and succumbed to his wounds five days later.

The village of Ni'ilin remains undeterred, and after three days of grieving over Ahmed Mousa, struggle struggle has already resumed. Villagers vowed to continue the struggle against the theft of their lands and their livelihood.

The Israeli activists involved are not "just good people"

Ilan S. 06.Aug.2008 06:56

People with less than good intentions label the activists of the Israeli anarchists against the wall initiative, in their reports on the joint struggle against the separation fence - as "Israeli" or "Israeli peace activists" etc. They refuse to give the credit to the anarchist movement.

People with good intentions, and people with less than good intentions label the activists of the Israeli anarchists against the wall initiative, in their reports on the joint struggle against the separation fence - as "Israeli" or "Israeli peace activists" etc.

People of the AAtW - like the authors of the above are shy... do not want to be regarded as self promoting. Also as activists that are not part of the initiative join us, they regarded stressing our "label" as not friendly...

However, the end result is like that of these who refuse to give the credit to the anarchists against the wall initiative (not all in it are self labeled as anarchists).

The fact that people who do not like us so much refrain from giving the credit to the anarchists is a good enough proof of its importance, and a reason for us to stress it in every pportunity.

anarchists against the wall credits

1.
we did not mention any of the palestinian or international groups that are leading those communities for editing purposed (ie the article would be way too long and too detailed for the indymedia feature format), mentioning the anarchists wouldn't be 'not being shy', it would be a spit in the face to the solidarity between us and those we work with. be they palestinian, international, or israeli. so much so, that instead of countering the efforts of those who seek to undue our due credit, it would play right into their prerogative.
2.
every single link in this feature links to the awalls.org page, a huge statement, that can be compared to the last feature israel indymedia published a few weeks ago concerning the whole struggle against the wall that included links to a wide variety of sources.
3.
indymedia israel, that is the producer of this feature, and is the sole link in it that is not awalls.org (a pretty big deal seeing as it's been ages since a feature concerning palestine has been published with the indymedia palestine link) has been a central point for coverage of all (and mostly) anarchist initiatives in israel never mind being anarchist itself -- making the claim of bad intentions toward anarchists simply wrong.

besides these points, the intentions of the feature article and of our activities is to support the palestinian struggle against the wall not to be anarchists for the sake of it, which such comments do nothing but take attention, effort and solidarity from despite their good intentions.
