Foie gras almost banned in California — call the Gov!

California's foie gras legislation has passed the Assembly floor by a wide margin! This is history in the making — though several countries around the world have banned force-feeding fowl, this is the first time this type of legislation has made it this far in the U.S. The bill makes the practice of force-feeding ducks and geese illegal by 2012, and it also bans the sale of the cruel product. Now it's up to Gov. Schwarzenegger to sign the bill. If you think it's time to add California to the growing list of governments that ban force-feeding, phone the governor at 916-445-2841 (or email at http://www.govmail.ca.gov).
