300 Attend OKC vigil in support of Cindy (report and commentary from a participant)

The Vets Support Sheehan - Because Cindy Supports The Vets Just one of 1,500 gatherings mobilized by liberal groups opposed to the Iraq war. I attended a gathering on the steps of the Oklahoma State Capital - there were about 300 I would estimate. I was a little disappointed - but you know, this wasn't planed. I don't think Cindy has been in Crawford for two weeks yet - so not bad. Just one of 1,500 gatherings mobilized by liberal groups opposed to the Iraq war. I attended a gathering on the steps of the Oklahoma State Capital - there were about 300 I would estimate. I was a little disappointed - but you know, this wasn't planed. I don't think Cindy has been in Crawford for two weeks yet - so not bad. Earlier at the Casey Camp in Crawford, Some jerk stopped his truck at the end of the road, attached a pole and chain to the side of his truck and took out 500 of the over 800 stick crosses made representing those who died in Iraq, with their names on them. I don't think this guy should go to jail or pay a fine or nothing like that - just let me punch his face in - that's all, that is all I ask - I think that's fair. While it still bothers me, yesterday, it really bothered me. All day long I had been fighting off tears of anger. Well, I go to this vigil, and I just have to say something. So at the end I go to the mike and wait for those speaking to finish, when I finally get to the mike, someone had shut it off, and everyone is leaving, so I have to shout out my frustration. Needless to say, it was embarrassing and I felt ashamed. But why - why should I feel ashamed, I'm not the one who ran over those crosses, and while I don't expect others to be upset, but I would think that every Veteran in America would be outraged and also want to punch this guys face in. But, while only vets can understand this, I would have hoped to at least have an opportunity to express my frustration. Oh well - I do feel better today and it makes me appreciate Cindy even more, because I know she would understand. I've decided to get more involved with Veterans groups and distance myself some from non-veteran groups - because they can't help it they don't understand. Those of us who wore boots, we've got to stick together.
