Camp Casey SF Reportedly Told to Leave

 
8:35 update Camp Casey is still there. David Solnit was teaching a workshop, ANSWER was handing out leaflets, and NION was there, as well. The police have not returned, but Ross Mirkarimi did come by. A candlelight vigil is planned for 9pm.

On Saturday, August 20th at 4:45pm, the reportedly police told the campers at Camp Casey SF, next to the War Memorial Building, to take down their tents as well as their signs that are on the fence near the building. The campers were given a 30 minute deadline. Police suggested that the protesters spend the chilly night in their cars, although this would not work for supporters who had taken public transit or were used wheelchairs. Read more

Camp Ken is being held in San Jose on Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 10pm in Cesar Chavez Plaza. The camp was named after the son of local Gold Star mom Karen Ballard.
