Dispossessed in DC

Situated east of the Anacostia river and perched atop some of the city's most beautiful land is public housing. Like the rest of the city's public housing - or what's left of it - Highland Dwellings is in grave danger. Last night, DC's Housing Authority hosted a meeting on the massive renovations coming to Highland Dwellings. Residents applauded the Housing Authority's promised upgrades. There was one person, however, who wasn't clapping: Kay Armstead is the Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner for the area. Commissioner Armstead is concerned that while the improvements to Highland Dwellings will be made, it will not be the residents who enjoy them.
