Cambridge, MA (May 18, 2016) - Last night 75 community members gathered to launch a human rights campaign calling for local and state governments to end contracts with Hewlett-Packard (HP). Speakers introduced a newly-released report entitled Apartheid Technology, and detailed the company’s role in maintaining the Israeli occupation of Palestine, U.S. deportation of immigrants, mass incarceration, and global militarization.
Outside the Frame presents The Lost Boys of Portlandia, a new documentary by and about the real lost children of Portland. A riff on Peter Pan, homeless youth debate if and how to return to mainstream society. Empowered to tell their own stories through film, they move from outside to inside the frame of their own lives - and ours.
Our Film Premiere Gala will feature the short documentary The Lost Boys of Portlandia. We will also screen original film shorts by homeless youth about issues such as drug abuse, gender identity, and the health care system. A Q&A with young filmmakers will follow. Watch the trailer for The Lost Boys of Portlandia: https://vimeo.com/otfpdx/teaser. Tickets are FREE; donations are welcomed. All ages show. Tickets at http://otfpdx.bpt.me/
As of this writing, there is no obvious path to the White House for Donald Trump. As Harry Enten recently pointed out, Trump's strong unfavorability rating (not his unfavorability rating, his strong unfavorability rating) stands at 53%, a full 16 points ahead of Hillary Clinton's heroic-in-its-own-right 37%. While some combination of electoral fraud and liberal third party candidate could conceivably send Trump to the Oval Office, if the election were to be held today he would lose. Trump has proven to the world that with enough hard work and dedication there is such a thing as bad publicity. What a lot of people don't seem to realize though, is that the election isn't the whole fight, it's only the first round.
This week, Federal Courts confirmed that the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers have failed once again to address the primary cause of salmon decline on the Columbia and Snake River system, which is the operation of the hydroelectric dam system.
Join us to rally and demand that the Corp, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and U.S.D.A.'s Wildlife Services stop scapegoating cormorants to address salmon decline. Already this year 1,494 cormorants have been killed, adding to the 2,346 adult cormorants and over 5,000 nests that were slaughtered last year. Help us stop the unnecessary slaughter now!
Articulate and passionate, Daniel was selected for this distinguished Award for his ongoing efforts to encourage students and adults to recycle and reuse containers, plant organic gardens, create pollination habitats for bees and butterflies, and protect our, air, water and soil from being contaminated by toxic chemicals.

From the Philippines to Libya to the streets of the U.S., people are rising up against injustice. In response to this, the forces of global capitalism and imperialism are working overtime to pit the masses of people on the planet against one another. Racist police murders continue while the victims are painted as criminals and thugs. Families are deported daily and immigrants are dehumanized and labeled as terrorists. Working families find it increasingly impossible to make ends meet in the U.S., while workers around the world are struggling to stay alive. Meanwhile, corporate profits are setting records. [...]
