Weiterhin Tote an der Südgrenze Europas - Proteste gegen globales Lagerregime im April 2006

Austria, 24.03.2006 00:37

Dies bestätigt u.a. migration-info.de.

Hunger Strike and Week of Actions to Stop Anti-Immigrant Bills

San Francisco Bay Area, 23.03.2006 23:10

Over 50 hunger strikers and organizations have started a seven-day protest in front of the Federal Building in San Francisco on Tuesday, March 21st, 2006. They are calling for fair and just immigration reform. They are denouncing Senator Arlen Specter’s bill that designates all undocumented immigrants as aggravated felons, allows for the indefinite detention of non-citizens, and criminalizes day-labor centers, churches, health clinics and all others who serve, help or work with undocumented immigrants. There will be candlelight vigils at the Federal Building every day through Sunday at 6:00pm.

Students striking, universities occupied...what's going on in france?

The french government, avoiding the usual legislative process, has imposed a new act: "Loi sur l’égalité des chances". This new law creates the parental responsibility contract which implies the loss of school assistance in case of school absenteeism, advances compulsory schooling age from 16 to 14 years, permits night work since 15 years old and, finally, creates new contract types as the CPE which extends the probationary period to 2 years and permits the dismissal with no reason during a period much longer. Last August a similar law was already written for companies with up to 20 employees and its consequences are noticeable already. This new hiring reduces working people's rights and adds precariousness to their lives. Many universities are on strike or still closed to expose and claim the withdrawal of this law and, in spite of the hard repression since the beginning of actions, student, union and other collectives actions are expected to spread and involve the rest of french and european society.

Bass Not Bombs: The Gathering of the Tribes

Bristol, 23.03.2006 10:08

Mash it Up to Mash Babylon Down mash it up to mash Babylon down This weekend sees a huge gathering of sound systems, musicians, activists, party goers and campaign groups, Mutual Aid writes: A glimpse at the Bristol Indymedia newswire and calendar for recent weeks shows the depth of feeling across Bristol, and across many related issues, for a society that could be so much freer, just and equal than the present corrupt mess we have to suffer under. As the super-rich and their corporate machines line up squarely behind the existing LibLabCon status quo, Bristol’s campaigners continue to probe, organise and resist for a post-capitalist world. Be it environmentally sensible transport schemes, safe local food solutions, or the end of warmongering and profits from WMD’s, Bristolians are organizing, meeting, protesting, and putting their bodies on the line and in the road. Respect is due to the organizers of the 3rd Bass not Bombs night, and to the systems providing the musical mayhem on the night – Dissident, Prank, and Rawdeluxe featuring Dubrovnik. Funds raised will go to a variety of Bristol's direct action networks facing legal action from their activities, and to Bristol Housing Action Movement, Columbia Solidarity Campaign, and Bristol Stop the War. There will be info and other surprises on the night. We don’t want their £millions, cos we’ve got the numbers – lets mash it up to mash Babylon down. Its anarchy on the streets

United Kingdom, 23.03.2006 09:10

Authorities in several countries are plundering anarchist principles to successfully reduce road casualties.

As our society becomes ever more complex our ‘representatives’ in local and national government feel they have to make more laws and regulations and implement new controls on people’s behaviour to ensure the safety of the majority. If they did not then very soon chaos and disorder would reign right? Well, as we know in our hearts this is nonsense, it is not laws and regulations that make people care for each other, all it needs is for the removal of all the extraneous impediments to mutual aid. Here is very practical example.

Dell'Arte presents SHADOW OF GIANTS

San Francisco Bay Area, 23.03.2006 07:42

In association with the Brava Theater Center, the Dell’Arte Company presents Shadow of Giants by Matthew Graham Smith. This two-night, special engagement will be held Friday, March 24 and Saturday, March 25 at Brava Theater Center.

Shadow of Giants is about the struggle over one redwood tree. It is a struggle with international ramifications, a struggle that involves tree-sitters, ghosts and mythology. An athletic ensemble of five actors portrays the ongoing conflict between environmentalists desperately fighting to preserve the last of the ancient forests, and the big timber companies who own them. It’s a story of a divided community, greed, hope, and power, told through dynamic physical theatre.

Portland, 23.03.2006 04:39

As students in Paris embarked on a massive insurgency against neo-liberal labour laws occupying buildings and rioting, thousands of students from schools across Auckland walked out of school in protest against youth rates, with a thousand turning up to an inspiring demonstartion of solidarity and direct action. Many students returned to school to be commended by their principals and teachers for taking a courageous stand against injustice.

WW: A call for Censorship on the wide-open Web

Portland, 23.03.2006 03:08

Phew! That was close! I thought that when my SO told me that the WW had written a response to my response about the PDXPress.net (click here!) article (aka. the Punk Rock Faggots article) that they would tear a hole in one of my central arguments. But, luckily they didn't. Not only that, but a larger than life font, half a page, some nice photoshop work on the computer generated picture, and a page sub-head that reads, "WW's guide to portland concerts, performances, food and movies. C'mon, what else do you want?". Well, let me tell you.

I'll start with the truth. And, just to be fair, a direct response to the central arguments laid out in Mr. Baumgarten's response. I think the good stuff is actually after my first two paragraphs though. Put that shit in your inverted pyramid and smoke it. [ read more ]

Your March Accomplished NOTHING! Now what?

Portland, 23.03.2006 00:39

At this most recent march (and I know you were there), did you listen carefully to the calls to action: write or email your Congressman or your Congresswoman - who is an equal opportunity turncoat in her own, liberated right, vote, listen to Air Hysterical, join Code Pink or mArCh. There were no calls to shut this mutha fucka a.k.a. the country/guv'ment down, march on the Congress and take it over, don't let the bizness of INjustice proceed until WE the people are finally in charge. Even though the Declaration of Independence makes clear that a government injurious to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness MUST be overturned, you're suddenly dyslexic.

Revolution! Revolution disrupts and destroys the machinery of demonic power; it doesn't feed it, coddle it, bargain with it, elect it, bark like a dog around it with NO bite. Where's your bite ya REVOLUTIONARY BEOTCH?!

Sadly, ya'll were invited yet again, on the leftwing Ferris Wheel to no where. Feeling a little queasy, are you? But that's the point, Yo! Your leaders are the 'Revolutionary Bulimics' - thumb down their esophagus, retching out the same ole Wheatina for mass consumption. Call it another Jim Jones Memorial banquet without the strychnine. You think you're being fed, but you're swallowing a mass delusion, an empty pot that's left you morally and intellectually emaciated.

Francia: proteste, occupazioni, scioperi in tutto il paese

Switzerland, 23.03.2006 00:37

ADAPT Confonts HUD and TENNCARE on Final Day of Action

Tennessee, 23.03.2006 00:10

Nashville, TN: On its final day of action in Tennessee, the disability rights group ADAPT took its message to the Bureau of Tenncare and the office of Housing and Urban Development in the Metro Center Business Park outside of downtown Nashville. Travelling in vans, the group went two miles north of downtown to the Tenncare Building where they were met with police and security guards. The activists then travelled half a mile to the HUD offices and assembled at the entrance demanding a meeting with Alfonso Jackson, the Secretary of HUD. The activists had a letter which they demanded Jackson read and respond to regarding housing vouchers for persons with disabilities in nursing homes. William Dirrel, the Nashville HUD spokesperson, came out to address the assembled crowd after meeting with representatives and assured them that Secretary Jackson would receive their letter and he would relay their concerns and demands to the Secretary.

Forum on "Eco Terrorism" and Political Dissent

Portland, 22.03.2006 22:38

Wednesday, March 22, 2006, 7 pm
First Unitarian Church, 1011 SW 12th Avenue in downtown Portland

Terrorist Creep - the 'Terrorization' of Criminal and Free Speech Acts: A discussion about the impact of characterizing crimes as "domestic terrorism" solely because of the political message allegedly associated with these crimes. With Steven Wax, of the Federal Public Defender's Office, Ashlee Albies, a local NLG attorney working to challenge the illegal NSA wiretapping program, Stu Sugarman, co-chair of the NLG Litigation Committee.

By labeling animal-rights and environmental defense activists as 'eco-terrorists,' the government hopes to clamp down political dissent and protest. Last month, 11 people were indicted in Oregon and California by federal grand juries in Oregon and California on various conspiracy charges for their alleged involvement in the Animal Liberation Front (ALF) or the Earth Liberation Front (ELF) activities. After the recent arrests, FBI Director Robert Mueller stated that animal rights and environmental "extremism" was one of the bureau's highest domestic terrorism priorities.

In response to the recent indictments and arrests of individuals accused of engaging in "domestic terrorism" - specifically arson and conspiracy to commit arson - on March 22, the National Lawyers Guild - Portland Chapter, the Northwest Constitutional Rights Center and the First Unitarian Church of Portland will launch a discussion series titled "But, is this really Terrorism? An ongoing forum about the impact of the 'War on Terror' on dissent in the United States." This series will provide the public an opportunity to dig deeper into the Bush Administration's policies and their ramifications. Peace March with Fernando Suarez del Solar in Watsonville

Santa Cruz, CA, 22.03.2006 21:08

On Saturday, March 25th, locals will be meeting in Watsonville at 10:00am (Saint Patrick's Church) to join Fernando Suarez del Solar, Pablo Paredes, Camilo Mejia, and Aidan Delgado in a local leg of their march for peace and immigrant rights. The group of four, which includes three military objectors to the war and a father of a soldier who died in Iraq, have been leading a "coalition of the willing" on a 241-mile peace march from Tijuana to San Francisco.

Organizers say, "Latinos represent nearly 15% of the US population and 11% of the US military, with many serving in combat or hazardous duty occupations. In addition, an estimated 20% of the fallen service members in the early months of the invasion were Latino. With the continued growth of the Latino population and its vital importance to the future of this country, it is time the Latino community become an active and vocal part of the 60%+ of US citizens that oppose this War."

Ecuador: Proteste gegen Freihandel

Germany, 22.03.2006 19:40
