ffmpeg -i source.avi -vcodec flv destination.flv

Bike to Work Day on May 15th

San Francisco Bay Area, 15.05.2008 14:09

Thursday, May 15th is Bike to Work Day. It will also be a Spare the Air Day, as the Bay Area Air Quality Management District predicts high levels of ozone in the air. Public transit in the Bay Area will not be free, as it has often been on past Spare the Air Days, so people all over the Bay Area will choose two-wheeled transportation on that day. Several cities will have "Energizer" Stations with giveaways of items such as snacks and mussette and tote bags in the morning.

Sea Lion Deaths Blamed on "Heat Prostration." OBVIOUS LIE

Portland, 15.05.2008 06:38

The corporate media is now reporting what we assumed they would: That nature is to blame for the deaths of six trapped sea lions, and not foul play. Because, as we all know, Homeland Security is keeping our dams very secure, and no one could possibly have gotten past them to close those traps and kill those sea lions. No, it must have been the heat. Yeh. That's it. The heat. ...But wait.

City Hall Protesters Meet With Mayor

Portland, 15.05.2008 06:38

Responding to an invitation issued by the office of Mayor Tom Potter on Monday, elected representatives from the homeless camp outside City Hall met with the Mayor at 3:00pm Tuesday. Scheduling only a half an hour for the meeting (his press conference was to begin at 3:30pm) Potter sauntered out around 3:50 flustered and red in the face, perhaps upset that the meeting that took two weeks of avid protest to get had lasted more than a half hour.

Presidential Candidates Get Specific on Trade

Rogue Valley, 14.05.2008 21:10

National polling results released May 1 by the Pew Research Center found, "There is now broad agreement that free trade negatively affects wages, jobs and economic growth in America. By greater than six-to-one, the public says free trade agreements result in job losses rather than in new jobs." More so, a greater majority of independent voters had a negative view of the impact of free trade than registered Democrats.

Southern Oregonians are active in the Oregon Fair Trade Campaign (ORFTC) and citizens in the State of Jefferson (Northern California, too!) stand in unity with the FAIR TRADE WORK being done by ORFTC. Check out the newest report...

Detencion de catro integrantes do indymedia Ecuador.

Galiza, 14.05.2008 18:10

psicológicamente a cinco companheiros.

Polk Street Séance to Summon Ghosts, Raise the Dead and Receive Messages from Beyond

Mary writes, "Because the gentrification of the Polk Street area in the Tenderloin is an intersection of so many different wars City Hall is waging -- against people of color, sex workers, homeless people, immigrants, drug addicts, youth, and marginalized queer/trans people -- it's the perfect place to channel voices of resistance."

Tag der Landlosen in Basel

Switzerland, 13.05.2008 20:37

Indymedia Journalists Targeted in Ecuador, Five Arrested

Aotearoa, 12.05.2008 23:10

Ecuadorian police detained five journalists associated with Ecuador Indymedia late Tuesday night, May 6th. Four of the five were released from custody on Wednesday afternoon. The government says that the four activists were detained because of their relationship with the fifth detainee, Ecuadorian resident and Colombian national Antonio Alcívar.

The government at first refused to issue a statement on the matter or inform the detainees of the reason for their arrests. The Regional Foundation for Assistance in Human Rights (INREDH) noted that this was a violation of the detainees' constitutional right to be clearly informed of the reason for their detention along with the identities of those who ordered and carried out the arrests.
